Ladies of the Shire – Making the album track…

In 2017, I was privileged to work alongside singer/songwriter Dave James, a friend of nearly 50 years standing, as he recorded his seminal album, Friends & Family, Love & War. Dave based the lyrics for one track on my first novel, Ladies of the Shire, and I’ve posted the video I put together to accompany it below. I had the genuine pleasure of supplying backing vocals and percussion on this and several other tracks on the album. A unique talent, Dave James continues to produce memorable music that both haunts and delights. The album was recorded and produced by Dave’s son, Nick James. He played bass, lead, some percussion and did BV on the album, so you can tell he’s a gifted musician in his own right. As songwriter, vocalist and lead guitarist, Nick fronts the highly respected and much sought-after progressive rock band, 25 Yard Screamer. Veterans of several albums, they continue to produce ground-breaking work and you can catch them at several of the more prestigious festivals in any year.
